between the end and the beginning
ahhhhhh... a Saturday morning which finds me, at 8:45am, still in my pajamas, sitting on the couch, a whole day before me that does NOT REQUIRE GOING IN TO WORK. Now, I LOVE my job, I love the people who work there, I love the underlying purpose of my job, and I love getting a paycheck so that I can for my groceries, but I am tired of having to go to work.
The kids are coloring, Stella while sitting on the potty. She's in denial again, actually having fist-pinched my leg while I physically moved her to the potty (after finding her standing stock still in the corner next to her bookshelf... we have learned well what this means), and the whole family knows that there will be success this morning because is has been 2 days without success in the potty but WITH small accidents in the underpants. Sigh.
Oh well, because the kid is good. These two kids are good. I am one damn-lucky parent with two great kids and I am grateful. And I am grateful that I have my job, but I am still really glad that I get THREE DAYS OFF IN A ROW.
Sophia just said that she wants to do lots of art today, and, I missed the transition conversation, now they are having an "ART!" vs "SCIENCE" yelling match. Does Stella want to do a lot of science today???
Today is not only the first of my THREE DAYS OFF IN A ROW (oh my goodness - Car Talk just started - I will get to listen to Car Talk!) but it is also the end of a long week of BUSY BUSY BUSY! Sophia has completed her three years of preschool. We had a move-up ceremony on Wednesday, a preschool potluck picnic on Thursday, I worked an extra day and we still had circus class... and I (after a year of thinking about it) finally thought of the perfect t-shirt design for the preschool and, with 2 days' time, made t-shirts for anyone in the class who wanted one and burned a new mix cd for everyone. phew.
Now I get to clean up the basement, start a painting spree, AND VISIT MY NEW NIECE!!! Life is good.
