first santa visit

Over the weekend we went to the Nordic Heritage Museum Jule Fest and visited Santa. This was the first Santa visit for the kids and they did great. No tears! We prepped Sophia starting on Saturday, and I think that really helped. She sat on his lap and told him that she wants a ball, a scooter and a dollhouse for Christmas. It was fabulous, totally worth waiting around in a HOT HOT CROWDED CROWDED craft fair. The kid who went before us was clearly not into sitting on Santa's lap- she told her parents "no" and "I need to go peepee" and they kept hounding her to sit on Santa's lap and that she could go to the bathroom after sitting on Santa's lap. This kid was probably only 3. I felt really bad for her. If Sophia had said no i would not have had her sit on Santa's lap. To top it off, on their way out of the room they told the little girl that she had hurt Santa's feelings. Oof.

But on Friday night in Sophia's bath she told me she was busy washing and cleaning and had lots of things she needed to do and so she couldn't play with me, a distinct mimic of the morning before when I was trying to clean up the kitchen and she was asking me to read books with her. Bad Maia-Mama.

Speaking of Maia, Sophia now knows that my name is Maia and her Dad's name is Jeff and that her middle name is Frances and that our last name is LeDoux. It's extremely strange to have your little kid call you by your real name.

A little early for Santa isn't it? Those Nordies like their X-mas! :) I actually thought Stella was a doll at first glance.
