Happy 16 month birthday!

Sophia- This photo is from yesterday - your sixteen-month birthday. You have become such a big girl!!! One night in the last few weeks you learned croatian or mandarin or some strange foreign language. You are fluent and we struggle to understand. You aren't one to give up though, you talk on and on waiting for us to learn what you are saying. We continue to pepper our conversation with you with, "Airplane!" and "Dog!" and we thank you for being so patient with us!
Today is cold and rainy, just as the weather forecast said it would be, and you seemed to know this because you did not, as had been the habit, grab your shoes at 7am and run to the front door. You played sweetly with whatever toys were already laying about and then you climbed up on our bed and entertained yourself with the new wire curly-que bead toy all the while narrating your actions. Meanwhile I picked up a few things in our messy bedroom, a dream I had been having for weeks and weeks.
We went to the post office and then the playground across from the co-op. You were a gem at the post office and we learned that fleece pants on an unwarmed slide sure make for a slippery combination - wheeee! what a ride!
Now you are napping, not something you wanted to do, but the fact that you ARE asleep is fabulous. Meanwhile, your unborn sister is thumping away inside me.
Sophia, you are joy in our lives and I am SOOOOO thankful that you are with us. Your smiling face and joyful laughter makes everything worthwhile.
love, mama

Sophia, if you really speak Croatian, can you please come and translate for us? We'll be in Zagreb tonight!
Thanks!
