sibling issue #1-3
I have reached the end of my rope with Sophia taking things, no- snatching things, out of Stella's hands. How to make her stop? It's reached staggering proportions, and yelling, explaining, taking away fun activities has not helped. I am down to immediate timeout, repeated as often as necessary. I have had to accept that it has to happen even if we are having fun outside, even if we are planning to go somewhere, no matter what. The yelling and loud talking has just made her mimic us and there is nothing much more unpleasant at 7am than having your 3 year old call you (in a severe scolding tone) "you bakky dohk" (she likes to make up words)
Also Sophia pushes the limits of safety with Stella - wrestling/pushing on the couch when she doesn't get her way.
And how do you get a three year old to get dressed when it is time to get dressed? 2 year olds are great because they are (always?) eager to go places and eager to do things themselves. 3 year olds, not so much, and even though she wants to go places she will just not get dressed. I have often simply stripped her and dressed her myself, but it is not my job. And of course preschool starts tomorrow and I foresee that we will be LATE. sigh.
Sometimes the full-time out of the house job seems really appealing....
sigh.
at least I wasn't whatsherface today

i'm sure it can get exasperating...and sophia is probably testing her limits??? it's funny bcs. ty is doing the same thing (testing limits). blatant disobedience after we ask him to do something hiding it under the guise of "i'm doing it the way that works for me" or "it's harder for me to do it your way" (but you're 11...sometimes you don't know what works for you). i'm often left exhausted. but i think kids are constantly trying to figure out their boundaries and limitations, and maybe that's why some ages seem to be more of a challenge than other ages??? thinking of you!
it gets better, G was a beast to get dressed last year, now she picks out clothes and puts them on. Nico is starting to rebel about what to wear though.argh.
G is a big time snatcher, don't worry that will change to when Stella can speak well enough to Sophia directly. we have many talks about it to G, and she I think is starting to do it less.
I also buy 2 of anything cool so that they can play together with something more productively, like we have two baseball tees and G likes to have it so they are both doing something together.
Also I got these tunnels for in the house and that encourages them to play together. I think its mostly a time thing. When Stella is over 2 more she will catch up even more. Sophia will love that her sister can play pretend and all that other stuff that 3 year olds like.
I have full time job thoughts all the time, ha ha
I don't have the personal experience to share with you or help me empathise... I'm glad that you've know people who know exactly what you're going through and can let you know that it won't last forever! It seems to me that parenthood is simultaneously about "they grow up so fast!" and "this day is never going to end".
As Ross says, "everything is going to be all right."
