our days

Directions:
Kids: remove objects from where you find them, disassemble, consume, crumble, drop, dribble, put aside to find new objects, put in mouth, push across floor, rub on clothes, share, snatch away, drag through dust, drop under couch, cast away. Eat when hungry. Demand. Be cute and sweet.
Parents: make breakfast spoon into open mouth, make breakfast and cajole into being eaten, clean up from breakfast, make coffee, read three books before drinking some now-cold coffee, run downstairs to throw load of laundry into washing machine, change diaper, tell child to sit on potty, dress one child and tell other to get dressed, think about a shower, drink some more cold coffee, get snacks ready for morning, think about lunch options, shower (with at least one trip out of shower in the middle of washing to settle 'argument' between kids)and get dressed, grab banana, pick up books, take clean dishes out of dishwasher, get kids in coats and hats and out the door, forgetting any number of things, running back in for snacks, go to (fill in blank). Upon return get kids to table and rush around getting appealing foods for kids' lunches, put clothes in dryer and pick up kids' bedroom, encourage potty use, read more books, find fun things to do, pick up uneaten cheerios from kitchen floor, wipe off table, think about afternoon snacks and what in the world are we going to have for dinner, sneak out of the house to get the mail or bring out the garbage, clean up cat puke, change poopy diaper, despair of older child ever deciding to use potty without being told, read books, stop argument, pick up toys, dream of being able to cut fingernails without a fight, did I eat lunch? eat two cookies, go back for a cookie for each kid, pick up dripping sippy cup, sing along to kids music, get out all the music instruments and bounce around the living room, chase kids of the parent bed, run downstairs to get laundry - kids 'help' fold, jam it all back into the basket and hide basket to be folded later, encourage potty use, read books, try to start cooking while kids follow every step, ......

and marvel at the wonder that is... the love.
