almost spring

my cell phone shot from the playground at uVillage. Sophia requests that we go there ALL the time now. It's s tiny playground under a canopy at the outdoor mall not too far from our house. There is a grocery store and drugstore there so it's easy to find an excuse to go. The other afternoon while I was getting dinner made she said we should go. I told her it was too late in the day and she said that we should go "quick quick before it rains" (words right out of my mouth).
On a different night AFTER dinner she told Jeff that we should go to the duck pond (near our house), which really means going to the playground... it was DARK outside.

Speaking of dark - I am grooving on this daylight savings thing. I heard recently that they are now saying that it DOESN'T save electricity- well I think it must save lives because it is SUCH A SPIRIT LIFTER! And it seems to have helped quite a bit in keeping Stella asleep in the morning. I've been up since 3:45 but it's now 6:30 and both girls are still asleep! Of course, they fought going to bed last night. I suppose we could drag out the time change... we seem to go for the quick and dirty adjustment (ditto for travel time change).

On Sunday morning (first morning of DST) I was up first and had time by myself at the kitchen table reading the latest issue of Fine Homebuilding (my favorite) and it got me dreaming again of how to make this house more pleasant and functional. While we have no money for any projects - it is fun to dream. I do plan on having a garden this summer and I want to start working on that. Projects these days seem to take hundreds of babysteps instead of a few large ones.
